The devotional zine encourages the exploration of art-making as a meditative devotional practice. This series of nine zines, created for the season of Lent, invites the user to abandon their preconceived notions about their own artistic ability and to explore doodling, writing, collage, painting, drawing, and craft as modes of prayer and contemplation. All zines are downloadable.
Jesus tells us to “pay attention to how you listen.” Those who have ears, eyes, mouths, hands: we invite you to pay attention.

Audrey
Gorton
Audrey Gorton is a writer and bookmaker who has lived all along the east coast. Her work explores endings, grief, and prayer, urging the reader to examine the expiry of all things. Audrey’s poetry has appeared in Catacombs Press, Volume III and Apricity Magazine, and she received an honorable mention in the Iris N. Spencer Poetry Prize. She has been a judge for the Princemere Poetry Prize for two years running.
Maxwell
Kane
Maxwell Kane is a painter based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Working primarily in oil and charcoal, his work explores the tactile quality of paintings, devotion, shame, and the tension between the physical and spiritual. Distorted figures embody his work, often drawing from religious symbolism and late nineteenth-century painters. His current series focuses on the “forced” figure—an exploration of the sublime as a crushing force rather than a lifting one, where the flesh is molded by the gravity of an aesthetic experience.
Kory
Stamper
Kory Stamper has been a professional editor for over 25 years and has edited works for small journals and large publishing houses. She is currently a freelance copyeditor and proofreader with Farrar, Straus and Giroux, where she works on nonfiction and fiction in translation. Kory is also the author of Word by Word: The Secret Life of Dictionaries and True Color: The Strange and Spectacular Quest to Define Color—from Azure to Zinc Pink. She roasts her own coffee.
Hadley
Whittle
Hadley Whittle is a writer, musician, and woodworker born in Argentina and raised in Northern Virginia. Hadley graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara where she studied poetry and creative non-fiction, and participated in Gordon College’s arts and humanities program in Orvieto, Italy. Now based in Philadelphia, she has spent time in international christian ecumenical communities, where she has written and produced a number of alternative musical projects and continued to develop her craft in reclaimed-wood carpentry. Releasing music under the pseudonym Dream Home, Hadley’s music centers around themes of faith, birth, paradox, and the natural world.
